On Friday, September 28, 2018 rapper Lil Wayne, aka “Dwayne Michael Carter Jr”, dropped his new album, “Tha Carter V”. The album has been so successful in the first week that it has two songs from the album in the top 5 on the Hip Hop leaderboards. This amazing stat makes Lil Wayne the first ever rapper to hold two of the top 5 spots on the leaderboards, which is, obviously, a pretty big deal. The album includes many top hip hop artists including Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, and the late XXXTentacion. The album also includes 23 songs, nearly an hour and a half of music. Lil Wayne released “Tha Carter V” on the same weekend another rapper, Logic aka “Sir Robert Bryson Hall II”, also dropped his highly anticipated album “YSIV”. Wayne’s album also had to compete with Lil Baby and Gunna’s collab album called “Drip Harder”. A lot of good music was released on the weekend of Sept. 28 but overall, Lil Wayne’s album “Carter V” had the most hype surrounding it and has been more successful so far in the first couple weeks.
