On Friday, Jan. 19, the Marshfield boys basketball team played a home game against Aurora. Although the Jays were unable to come out with the win after falling to the score of 45-37, a very significant play took place in the first quarter. Senior Jason Whittington launched a full court shot in the final seconds of the first quarter and made it to beat the buzzer. The somewhat mild excitement shown in the crowd was interrupted with people jumping out of their seats as everyone was in disbelief of what they had just witnessed.

“This ranks really high, maybe even number one. It is about the coolest thing I’ve seen happen and it was really cool to be apart of it. It was a great way to get my first varsity points.” Whittington comments when asked where the shot ranked on his personal sporting achievements.

I can’t believe that just went in, I’ve never seen something like that happen, let alone to me.

Whittington was just as shocked as everyone else in the building as he said, “My first reaction was, ‘I can’t believe that just went in, I’ve never seen something like that happen, let alone to me.”

Sophomore Daniel Parrish was amazed with the shot as well. “It was crazy, I couldn’t believe it”

The Marshfield boys basketball team will be playing in the Mountain Grove Tournament: Consolation Semifinals throughout this week Jan. 22 through Jan. 27.
