In November, girls soccer coach Paul Lewis, a Physical Education and Heath teacher here at the Marshfield High School, began yet another year of winter weights. Lewis has been teaching at the High School for 12 years now and this will be his 23rd year coaching overall. Ever since Lewis has taken over coaching girls soccer, he has always done the winter weights. When asked why he became a girls soccer coach he said, “I’ve always played soccer and so did my wife. I already knew the sport so it is easy to coach.”

Winter weights are after school weights for any returning soccer players and new recruits. “It gets the girls stronger and in shape for the upcoming season,” Lewis says.

Weights are every Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in either the weight room or the soccer field, depending on the weather.

“I am really proud of the effort these girls have put in and would really like to see more people come,” said Lewis. If you are interested in joining the after school weights they will continue until Feb. 15th.

The official season for the girls soccer begins Feb. 26th.
