Lady Jays are “Here to Play”

Tuesday, Dec. 5, MHS Junior Varsity and Varsity girls basketball won their first home game against Hillcrest. The first to play was Junior Varsity who held a 14 point lead at halftime 23-9. At the end of the game the JV kept their lead and ended the game with 39-22.

“It feels great to win our first home game,” said Jeydon Jones. “We made a statement that we are here to play. We just need to keep fighting and not get discouraged.”

When the Varsity team came on the court they did not disappoint. At half the Varsity Blue Jays led by only 3 points with the score 21-18. After half time things changed for the better. The Lady Jays won their game 56-32.

We all worked well together and had fun with each other on the court and on the bench,” said senior Katie French. According to French, “It was a team effort [because] 12 out of 13 of us scored.”
