Baseball Bluejays become Conference Champs

On Tuesday, May 6, the Marshfield varsity baseball team became conference champs. They defeated the Monett Cubs 2-1 in the last two innings of the game.

Austin Dobrick, junior, led the Jays to victory on the mound. He gave up one run on two hits over seven innings. He struck out out ten batters and walked zero.

The game was definitely a battle of the pitchers and the Monett Cubs pitcher took the lose. He allowed three hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings and then was pulled. He struck out nine.

The game was a score of 0-0 until the fifth inning, where the Cubs took the lead making the score 1-0. The Jays came out during the top of the 6th inning. Austin Dobrick, Brooks Espy, junior, and Truett Gardner, senior, each had one hit to take the 2-1 lead, Jays scoring Espy and Gardner.
