Marshfield has a new club called Club America. The club is sponsored by Rochelle Hobbs, Jessica Boyster, Aaron Pennington and Justin Cron with community support from Jeff and Selena Mann.
Club America is the high school chapter of Turning Point USA, a foundation started by Charlie Kirk, to raise awareness of Americans’ constitutional rights, traditional values, and biblical principles.
As stated by Hobbs, they work to “help students find a place to feel like they belong and a place to find people with like-minded people and to inform them of their country and government.”
They did a memorial effort where they wore red shirts on October 14 with the goal to show respect to Kirk. They also will do service projects for events happening in the world and community.
They have faced struggles such as opposed views or opinions of the creation of their club at such a sensitive time after a very public murder; trying to not be a group of anger and instead being a group of support and peace to help teach them the values of history.
Hobbs described her leadership style and work ethic as “wanting to be a servant leader and to be supportive and to not take the lead and allow the students to take the lead or initiative and just wanting to be a sponsor and to support the kids and let them run with it, and to be there as a supportive person in their circle, as for work ethic as being a rule follower and being diligent in work ethic and acceptance towards others.”
Some of the strategies she uses to motivate and inspire their members are having various meetings, keeping them excited about learning the values of their countries, and finding their faith and enlightening their people to stand together. Justin Cron, Jessica Boyster, and Aaron Pennington also sponsor Club America
The next meeting is November 21 from 7-7:45 a.m. in the Ag room.
