Introducing the magic of Harry Potter Club

Jordyn Koons, Editor

One of the most magical clubs in Marshfield High School is Harry Potter Club!

Harry Potter Club was established in 2009, sponsored by Yvette Lane and the help of a new student.

“Harry Potter Club was started when I had a new student move here from Las Vegas.  Her old school had a Harry Potter Club and she wanted to start one here,” Lane said.

The President for the 2017-2018 year is Payton Sammons and the club usually averages between 12-20 people each meeting.

Members of Harry Potter Club are students with an interest in the Harry Potter book or movie series. Membership is open to any Marshfield High School student providing they have enrolled in the drug testing pool as per school policy.

“In the Harry Potter Club, we watch at least one movie per quarter (usually with a pizza party). When not watching movies, we play Harry Potter themed games.” Lane explains.

Some are trivia games such as Scene It, but sometimes the members make up games.

“In the past, we have also written and shared Harry Potter fanfiction, and we’ve played Quidditch,” said Lane.

Get your broom sticks ready and come see the magic that unfolds. Meetings are every Wednesday from 3:20 – 4:30 in room 305 if you are interested in joining.
