Hype for Homecoming

Remington Richerson, Writer

Marshfield High School’s annual homecoming pep rally was held Sept. 29, 2017, in the high school’s main gym. Students spectated multiple humorous events and some even had the opportunity to participate in the such events as a toilet paper toss, a battle between teachers, and even a “royal makeover.”

Emily Whitehurst, junior, hosted the pep rally exceptionally with a bright smile and enthusiasm. The MHS Pep Band performed a few songs while the students found their seats and the football players were announced and recognized. Then, following the football players’ announcement, the Jaywalkers performed their fall routine. Then there was a game between teachers Kyle Whittaker, Justin Cron, Pat Boshe, and Tina Hyde. After a very competitive and hilarious game between the teachers, all other fall sports members were asked to come onto the gym floor to be announced. The Homecoming Court members were announced and recognized before the cheerleaders had their flawless performance. Then, for the grand finale, there was a toilet paper toss between grades, which was won by the sophomores.

Freshman Rozalyn Richerson said that her favorite part of the pep rally was that “the band got to greet all of the students walking into the gym.”

Senior Justin Murphy said that his favorite part of the pep rally was the “classes chanting against each other.”
