New Year’s resolutions have been a tradition that dates back centuries. About 31-40% of Americans created resolutions or set goals for 2025, but what about here at MHS?
For senior Evelyn Wilcox, she has a variety of resolutions or goals for the year, as she plans to read more of her Bible this year, as well as start her career after graduation and get a car.
Another senior, Emmarae Smith, plans on buying a car this year, specifically a yellow 1970s Volkswagen Beetle as she said the car had been her dream car for years.
Maggie Abella (10) wants to practice playing a couple of instruments, specifically the piano and the guitar, hoping to become better at the two, because as Abella puts it “I have an extreme love for music and haven’t had much time to practice those two instruments lately.”
Some students also have less specific resolutions, like junior Ava “Asher” Catron, whose resolution for this year to work out more.
According to some studies, about 88% of resolutions fail before the end of January. Only 9% of those with resolutions actually achieve their goals.
