For over 20 years now the “Animal Crossing” series has been a beloved Nintendo title. In 2017 Nintendo branched into creating mobile games, one of which being “Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.”
In “Pocket Camp” players manage their own campsite with the goal of getting different villagers to visit. They do so by traveling to different areas that a rotating selection of villagers are staying at and completing requests for them. They also have seasonal month-long events that give exclusive items players can use to decorate their campsite.
After 7 years of running an official statement was released that the game will be shutting down on November 28. They also announced that they will be creating a paid version of the app shortly afterwards.
In said paid version, available on all devices, called “Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete,” players will have access to every item in the game with certain exceptions, like the Sanrio collab items that had been available in the past. Players will also be able to transfer over their accounts to not lose what they already have.
Compared to the free version where you could purchase “premium currency” to obtain items you can only get with that currency, or various subscriptions that would give you different items or features upon purchase. In “Complete” you get all of these for free as there are no in-app purchases.
The game was set to release on December 3, but ended up releasing a day early for many. It’s currently out at the price of $9.99. But by the end of January 2025, the price will be rising to $19.99.
