A Blossoming Spring

What is Marshfield most known for? According to 417 Magazine, the answer to that question is the Cherry Blossom Festival, an annual 3-day festival held closer to the end of April. This year’s festival is set for April 27-30 and, as of this year, has been running for 18 years.

Reagan Inman, a freshman, shared some insight on what happens at the festival. “One of the best things about the festival is that there are so many things happening at once so you never can get bored no matter what you are interested in. We will have presidential descendants, Paul Burell the past butler to Princess Diana and the recently departed Queen Elizabeth, along with many old television classic stars. Throughout the week they will all be talking and sharing their stories. And if you are not a history buff we will also be having vendors on the square, dog, and chicken shows, a square and street dance, along with much more!”

It all started when the chairman of the festival, Nicholas Inman, Reagan’s dad, went to Washington DC for an internship. While he was there he met many people who had lived unique lives and had different political interests. At the same time the city had cherry blossoms blooming which was something that stuck with him. Once he came back to Marshfield he decided to create a place where all of history can come together without politics, starting the festival.

As Reagan Inman put it, “Instead of treating people badly for their beliefs, we are here to learn from them and learn from those who made the world what it is today.”
