Coronation Day

For the 2022 homecoming court, candidates Macie James and Silas Perkins were crowned homecoming queen and king at the coronation on September 30, 2022. This was the first year either of the candidates had ever participated in the homecoming court, so to get king and queen was a great surprise for the two of them.

“I was so happy. Since there were three Macie’s on court, I waited a second until I heard my last name because I was like ‘if it’s not me and I get excited, that would be embarrassing,’” said James.

“I thought Jackson Rovig was going to win, so I was honestly pretty surprised,” Perkins said.

A benefit that both Perkins and James enjoyed was getting the crowns at the coronation which is a great way to remember getting homecoming king and queen. Both also mentioned that it was still fun for both of them and they were happy about the outcome.

“Just like, really go all out,” James says, encouraging others who want to be in homecoming court. “Don’t be afraid to be excited about this. Because I feel like that’s what a lot of people do. They’re like ‘Oh no! I don’t want to be excited for this because that might be embarrassing, or other people might not be excited!’ But I honestly think that you should just like go all out for everything and just like have fun. Just have fun and do whatever you want. In five years, no one is going to care!”
