Kick The Ball To Victory

The varsity girls soccer team played their third home game on Tuesday, March. 27, against New Covenant. After two hard halves, the Lady Jays lost the game 1-2.

Senior Leiken Barton scored Marshfield’s only goal for the night. Barton made the shot by using her head to get the ball into the goal. “I am always super happy whenever I score a goal. Then I just tell myself to score as many as I can.” Barton quoted.

Senior Kennedy Deckard said, “We went into the game with expectations to win but we knew it would be close, as it always is. I think we worked really hard and as a team but we just couldn’t put it together to score what we needed to and to keep them from scoring. It’s just a little discouraging looking back because we usually get a win against that team, but next time we will just have to go back and play harder. “

The stands were filled with people ready to cheer on the Lady Jays. The team had trouble getting to some of the balls fast enough, they took notice of it and were able to practice it later on. Barton said, “We weren’t getting to the 50/50 balls. We practiced getting to them and preformed much better Thursday vs Cassville!”
