On Sept. 28, the Marshfield FFA began selling fruit for a fundraiser to raise money for the FFA chapter. The FFA members continued selling the fruit, as well as other items, until Oct. 31. All of the boxes of food that were sold came in on Dec. 4, that day/night the members would pick up their fruit and deliver them to the original buyers.

Some of the fruit that the members were selling was a 20 piece mixed fruit box that comes with oranges, fuji red apples and granny smith apples. There was also a 20 piece gift box that comes with 4 pears, 3 grape fruit, 3 california oranges, 4 fuji red apples, 4 granny smith apples, 1 summer sausage and 1 roll of cheese. People could also get a 20lb box of california oranges as well as a 20lb box of Texas ruby red grapefruit. There was also a choice of ½ bushel of fuji red apples and ½ bushel of granny smith apples, together that is approximately 44 apples. Lastly, people can get a anjou pear box that has approximately 40 pears.

They weren’t just selling fruits though. They were also selling meats such as ham, turkey breast, bacon sausage and chicken breast. They were also selling desserts, such as cookies, cheesecake and pumpkin roll. The cookies that were being sold were M&M, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, chocolate chip, pecan and cranberry crunch.

To top it off there was a variety of seasonings that people could purchase. There was apple chipotle rub seasoning, cilantro with lime, mesquite rub seasoning, mojave garlic pepper, sugar maple rub seasoning, texas chicken tickler rub, steakhouse blend, bubba’s cajun rub, butcher’s blend and lastly cookie’s cowboy rub.

The week following the fruit delivery, there was empty boxes stacked in the hallway almost to the ceiling. In the end, there ended up being 80 boxes of pears because 25 extra boxes came in. The FFA members sold a bag of 20 pears for 8 dollars trying to get rid of them, whatever was not sold went to the Webster County food pantry on Dec. 12.

The FFA chapter ended up making around 10 to 15 thousand dollars from this fundraiser.
