3 Sports Run,Cheer, and Swim To State

Marshfield High School has had a really big uptake in sports recently. Three sports have gone to State: Cross Country, Swimming and Cheerleading.
Starting with Cheerleading and how state went for them, the Varsity team had placed ninth out of 22. Captain of the cheer squad is senior Dallas Hougardy.
Hougardy had said she that, “I was excited to go to State, I thought we did good it was not what I was expecting but a lot of fun.”
With Swimming also going to state, junior Parker Cantrell who had placed 7 in State in the 100 meter in the Butterfly stroke.
Cantrell commented, “There was a lot of competition it was hard but it overall went well.” Cantrell plans to work harder for next year.
Last but not least with Cross Country team who went to State on Nov. 4, 2017, freshman, Reagan Smith. Smith placed 78 out of 165. Smith had said that state went, “decent.”
When asked why, she said, “The course was pretty brutal but the place it was held was amazing, the race was exhausting and hard.”
Junior Jeydon Jones, who is also involved in Cross Country, had placed her thoughts on State, “It was great! Reagan ran a 21:42. She is also the top 15 freshman in the State.”
Jones says she’s proud of her friend for doing her best. Smith says her plans for the future is to get better and make it past state.
It’s been an eventful last week for Swimming, Cheerleading and Cross Country all three sports making it to State. These sports may be coming to a close for the season but there are more sports coming up this school year with Wrestling, Basketball and Girls Swimming in the winter. Sports upcoming in the spring are Track, Girls Soccer and many more. Come and support our Bluejays at games and meets.
